Layout Mockups & Ready-Made Templates

A blank page is the hardest page. A template gives you the structure — margins, hierarchy, page count — so you can spend your time on content and style.

Mockup, template, layout: what is the difference?

A mockup (maquette in French) is a quick, realistic draft of a design, used to test an idea before the real work: where the title sits, how many images fit, how pages follow each other. A template is a reusable mockup: the structure is fixed, the content is yours to replace.

Why start from a template?

Templates available in plim

plim ships with ready-made templates, each one a normal, fully editable project:

How to use them

Open the Templates panel in the Document sidebar. Hover over a card to preview its pages, then open it. Replace the text, swap the images, change colours and fonts — everything stays editable.

Make and share your own

Finished a layout you will reuse? Choose Save as template in the File menu to add it to your own templates. A template is a single .plim file: keep it, send it to a colleague, or drop it on the canvas to open it elsewhere. Templates can carry their own translations, so the text switches to your language when the file contains it.

Tips for a good mockup

Why plim? The freedom of collage, the precision of layout

The freedom of a collage. The precision of a page layout. plim combines the freedom of a moodboard, the precision of layout software and the simplicity of a modern design tool. Create moodboards, collages, outfit boards, posters, flyers, presentations, mockups and animations in a single workspace.

Nothing to install. No account. Open plim in your browser and start creating right away — no download, no sign-up. It works on a computer, a tablet or a phone; performance depends on your device, your browser and the size of your project.

100% local: your files stay with you. plim runs on your own device, using your CPU/GPU, on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android and ChromeOS. Your images and projects are never uploaded to our servers.

An open format built to last. Save your projects as .plim files — an open, editable format that AI assistants such as Claude or ChatGPT can help you write. Ask your favourite AI to draft a template, then open it in plim.

Complementary to clean-room apps. plim works alongside the independent “Craft” family of apps built in a clean room — VectorCraft, SoundCraft, DesignCraft, EffectCraft, PhotoCraft… — each written from scratch for one craft. plim itself is not built in a clean room.
